What the inspection includes

The inspection includes checking the main car systems — brakes, suspension, lights and steering — as well as emissions and the presence of mandatory equipment.

An MOT involves dozens of checks on your car, ranging from the brakes and fuel system to lights, mirrors, seatbelts, windscreen wipers and the exhaust system.

We are an approved DVSA test centre for Class 4 vehicles only. That covers most cars, as well as many small vans and similar passenger vehicles that fall in Class 4. If you are unsure whether your vehicle qualifies, call us with the registration and we will tell you straight away.

Customers often come in at short notice, and we do our best to fit an MOT into the day. If the car fails, we explain what failed and what is only an advisory, so you can decide the next step without pressure.

Checks drivers ask about

Brakes

Performance, condition and the way the pedal feels under test.

Suspension and steering

Play, condition and whether the car tracks as it should.

Lights and mirrors

Aim, operation and the equipment the law expects to be present.

Seatbelts

Presence, condition and whether they lock correctly.

Wipers and exhaust

A clear screen, and an exhaust system that is secure and not leaking.

Emissions

A check that the car meets the emissions standard for its age and fuel.

If something needs putting right

A failed MOT is not the end of the visit. We can quote for the repair, carry out minor work where it makes sense, and retest. Drivers tell us they value a clear explanation and a fair price, with no surprise charges.

While the car is here you can also book a service, a diagnostic check, tyres or a clutch quote. One workshop, one conversation.
